So you decided to take the plunge and package up your mother-in-law’s recipe for Norwegian Shortbread into a saleable product format. After 6 months of hard work, you found a friend who knew a guy who had a cousin whose sister works as a secretary for a company that makes private label cookies. You loved the owner’s passion (it seemed to jive with yours) so you signed him up to create a recipe for mass-production based on yours.
He put you in touch with two guys who do packaging on the side and they whipped out a box for your cookies that you just love. You paid for both the packaging (design and printing) and the minimum run of product at the co-packer with your Visa Card. Good thing you had that $20,000 limit.One of your cousins does websites on the side and your dad is an attorney who helped you set up your LLC so you are all set to enter the amazing world that we know and love as the Specialty/Natural Foods arena.
